this is what i draw from...homemade childhood in san diego..technics belt drive tables, numark dm-500, and a wobbly homemade coffin sitting on top of sanyo house speakers taken from dad's home stereo system. when mixtapes were made late at night overdubbing on tdk high bias cassette tapes on the dual tape deck (also from dad's home stereo system). painting over our huffy frame and slapping dyno stickers on it..gettin' up with homemade widetips (right guard, chalkboard erasers, and eyedropper)..building sixth-order bandpass sub enclosures in wood shop, instead of a lamp..going to art school in the city, while living on the corner of jones & sutter..meet up at godfather's pizza parking lot before races at 905 track. now i joyfully live for Jesus...there it izzz..yeyah!

What up? Let me start off by saying my name is Alfredo. I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. Lived there most of my life. Involved in all the things a typical Filipino would do in Dago. Martial Arts, sports, riding freestyle bikes, skateboarding, music, popping, breakdancing, hanging out at local malls, growing and fixing (own) hair, house parties in garages, fixing up cars (Honda), dropping out of Jr Colleges, etc. You guys know what's up. Then had a family and felt a calling from the Lord to move to San Antonio, TX. Been here for close to 3 years. Love my past, breathing in the present, and looking forward to the influence HMG will provide in the future. Shalom.

Born in San Diego, raised in the Bay Area. My earliest influences began as a child in San Francisco, where my older cousins introduced me to the rich era in which they lived. It was the "Soul" and "Soulfunk" eras (remember the stuff on KSOL?)! Later, it was growing up with breakdancing, beatboxes, djs, dancing, various artists/groups (like Run DMC, Michael Jackson, Prince, and New Edition!), KMEL, MTV, freestyle (hi energy of the late 80's and early 90's), rap, and some of the greatest bay area graffiti artists, among many other less notable influences. Looking back, it can't be merely coincidence that I went to school with Chico Green who later on became a famous rapper in the bay, Spice1! Time has passed, but these things still are a part of who I am today. Though I still get nostalgic at times, I like to look forward to what's new...like HMG. That's new! Nowadays, I like to chill more often since family has become priority for me. My personal blog PieceJoy.

ON YOUR TOES.
Its that time again! We have new tees that are going to drop, so keep on your toes. These next tees are going to be lifestyle driven designs and experiences that bring you back to your childhood or even may reflect your lifestyle now.
Last night we were sketching and playing around with ink and paper. We were trying something with the effect of our old home SD and new home SA. As kids growing up in gang infested streets, we witnessed and participated in pretty much everything that dealt with that particular lifestyle. So we wanted to implement our childhood nostalgia into the present era. We don't live that way now, but its a small part of what's engraved into our memories. We leave it there so we can remember what we came from with no plans on turning back.

SAVED BY GREASE MONKEY.
We drove up to Austin for a press check and the LS400 alternator went out on us and we got stranded on the freeway. I was able to crank her up and make it to an Autozone. So imagine 4 hrs in parking lot with the chariot up in the air, no jack stands, borrowed tools and a $300 alternator. As soon as we figured out the alternator was the problem we got under the whip to get wrenchin'. Then out of the blue Charlie the angel crawled up under the car and said, "Yall aint no whatchall doin under there, let me do this thang".
So he was able to change out the alternator with in an hour without adding the time of waiting for the part coming from north Austin. Thanks Charlie!! If you are ever in car trouble holla at Charlie the grease monkey. STOP DRINKING ON THE JOB AND DRIVING TIPSY!

BARBACOA x BIG RED
In San Antonio barbacoa and Big Red seems to be the crowds favorite. Barbacoa is for certain palates only but i can assure you once you taste it you'll keep coming back, in my own opinion.
Barbacoa de cabeza is a specialty of slow cooked cow head that arose in the ranching lands of northern Mexico after the Spanish conquest. Except for cochinita pibil, one of the common characteristics of Mexican barbacoa is that marinades are not used and sauces are not applied until the meat is fully cooked (for examples of Mexican marinades, see carne de chango and carne al pastor). Pork cooked in this manner is generally referred to as carnitas rather than barbacoa.
Throughout Mexico, from pre-Mexican times to the present, barbacoa (the name derives from the Caribbean indigenous Taino barabicu) was the original Mexican barbecue, utilizing the many and varied moles (pronounced "mol-ehs", from Nahuatl molli) and salsa de molcajete, which were the first barbecue sauces. Game, turkey, and fish along with beans and other side dishes were slow cooked together in a pit for many hours. Following the introduction of cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, and chickens by the Spanish, the meat of these animals was cooked utilizing the traditional indigenous barbacoa style of cooking.

NPS50.
We found a too-good-to-pass-up deal on an 03 Honda Ruckus, so it's time to start wrenchin' again! (or would this be mini-wrenching?) Yeah, its pre-'06 so the stock motor may not have the same top end performance as the later models, but that makes it more fun! Time for a homemade transportation transformation! With the help of our favorite forums (Total Ruckus, Battlescooter, and Fatlace) this should be a fun ride! Track the progress on the HMG Ruckus here!

BREAK BREAD.
We had a chance to discuss the Street Culture and foundation of San Antonio with Aaron and Joseph from the SNEAKS UP CREW. They shared their up-bringing and lifestyle of Hip-Hop culture here in TX. It was very similar to the lifestyle we grew up in California, but with a little bit of a twist. Regardless of location, the common language of Hip-Hop has many dialects, but we all understand each other. We were encouraged when we saw their vision of expanding the culture here in SA, and with open arms they embrace the contribution that HMG has brought to the table. We want to thank SNEAKS UP CREW for all the support. During the conversations we threw down on some southern California style carne asada burritos. If you're ever interested in trying this awesome delicacy, stroll down to Bitters and 281 and stop by LOS ROBERTOS - its open 24hrs for those late night lurkers!
